MALAWI TO USE OLD UNIFORMS IN ANGOLA

Malawi national football team, The Flames, will use the old uniform after Adidas, Sports wear manufacturer turned down FAM's request to produce a new kit for the flames which would accommodate all the country's flag colours (black, red and green).

Flames were using red and white uniforms which makes it difficult to identify them a Malawi national side.

Football Association of Malawi requested the new uniform to use it at Africa Cup of Nations tournament which kicks off this Sunday in Luanda at 20.00 hrs local time.

FAM president, Walter Nyamilandu told The Nation Sport that Adidas are restricted by the contract they signed with Fifa-which allows them to supply two-colour uniforms only.

Nyamilanu said: "They, therefore, said they could not come up with a special design tailor- made for the Flames.
"The other reason they gave, was that we made the request at short notice but that is not our fault because we only qualified in November last year."

Meanwhile Malawi is expected to arrive in Angola on Thursday from Swaziland after playing their last friendly match against Ghana which ended nil-nil last night.

They are expected to play Algeria on Monday in their opeNing match.
