Malawi's soccer giants, MTL Wanderers and Big Bullets were on Sunday recieved K500,000 ($3,572.00) each from the President Bingu wa Mutharika for playing ceremonial match to mark the end of the Southern African Region Police Chiefs Corporation (Sarpcco) games at Kamuzu Stadium, Blantyre.
Mutharika was presenting the medal ceremony to the winners at the end of the competition.
Due to the heavy rainfall, the game did not last for long as the artificial turf was waterlogged which made the referee to blow the whistle to mark the end of the game.
Bullets who have stayed for over five years without sponsorship, were over the moon as they had earlier carried a banner asking for the President's help.
On speaking after the ceremony, President Bingu wa Mutharika who was commended by Sarpcco officials for his commitment in sports, promised also to donate K3 million Kwacha to Police Women Welfare fund.
He also urged the visitors to come and spend their holidays in Malawi without any problem.
He said: "I am very glad to have you in the country. Malawi is your home. You can come at anytime."
Zimbabwe emerged the overall winners after receiving more gold medals in diferent sports activities that were conducted.
